Lessons in the Dram

Have you ever thought of becoming a professional whisky taster? You’re in luck because you could! And it’s a serious job. No perfume, no coffee, or anything that could affect your sense of smell and taste. If you could do without them, you might want to consider. We know that renowned distilleries do hire whisky tasters as part of their team. So, why not?

Description

One of the uncommon fives from Dewar's The Last Great Malt, launched in 2014. It is the most mysterious of the bunch, said to have come from the misty Foggie Moss. When people meet the Aultmore, they are in for a surprise as it is friendly and refreshing.

This Aultmore douses itself with vanilla floral perfume. It is sweet like honey and cheery like citrus fruits. From time to time, the 12-year-old skips down the meadow, lifting soft grass into the air. Spring has begun.

Lessons in the Dram

Did you know that the first whisky isn’t from Scotland? According to history, an Eastern alchemist first invented the light copper-coloured liquid and called it aqua vitae, which means “the water of life.”

Description

Warm creamy freshness—it’s a palatable stroll in the highlands. The Glengoyne 12 Year Old gathered its floral sherry notes from being aged in first-fill hogshead ex-bourbon barrels and first-fill sherry casks. Guess what? The whisky isn’t peated! It has zero PPM (peatiness unit measure) value. The Glengoyne air dries the barley, giving the unpeated whisky that smooth finish.

When it comes to consuming whisky, no one drinks more than the French. Oui! An average French drinks 2.15 litres of whisky a year. Santé!

Don’t let the name fool you. It may be called small, but it’s big on malt and strong in floral notes from start to end. Made from a generous blend of malt and grain, this whisky is first aged in ex-bourbon casks. It is then finished in ex-Central American rum barrels for up to 12 months.
